Nebraska Campus Update
Brady Cone serves with Nebraska Cataltyic and coaches a number of college campuses in Nebraska. Brady's an amazing leader and is doing an amazing job. Recently Brady was honored by having his story shared to all the campus staff within his national organization as a model for others to follow. Way to go Brady! I asked Brady if I could share his story. Here it is:
"Chadron State College is a small school of 2500 students in rural northwest Nebraska. I serve on the Nebraska Catalytic team and CSC is my most distant college, being eight hours away. Many people think it is crazy that we are trying to reach a college that far away….but it works when God is at work there!
Last spring the group was about dead, with only 15 students involved. So in April I, along with a few of my fellow staff went to CSC to surface new leaders. In less than 24 hours on campus we surfaced and put together a new leadership team of 9 student leaders, each with a huge heart to see God move on their campus!
After one training retreat over the summer, I headed to Chadron for the first week of class to re-launch our ministry. Our FSK table netted over 200 contacts on the first day of classes, all of whom were followed up with in the next 48 hours. To our surprise, over 100 students showed up for the first weekly meeting! Having 12 other campuses to attend to, I handed the ministry over to the new leadership team and left at the end of the week.
A month later I headed back to Chadron to help the leaders with an event hosting 9/11 survivor Sujo John. The day of the event, my heart sank. So many students were sick with the flu, the school was canceling classes! We just knew no one was going to show up to hear Sujo. We prayed and turned it over to the Lord knowing His will would be done.
At the time of the event people started flooding the Ballroom to hear Sujo. We packed the largest room on campus with over 400 students! Sujo shared his story and explained how to begin a relationship with Jesus. Over 100 students made decisions for Christ! Over the next 3 weeks, a local pastor and the 9 student leaders personally followed up with over 200 students!
Wow! In 5 months we have gone from a dead group to a thriving movement with 100 new believers. Over 400 students have heard the Gospel and over 15 small group movements have started all over campus! And it's all happening on a campus eight hours away from the nearest staff! God is working in such miraculous ways to build His Kingdom and it is such a blessing to be a part of it!"
